Dhaka--(UNB) – Newly crowned Bangladesh Biman completed their Green Delta National Cricket League campaign with a 3-wicket win against Khulna Division in a one-day match at the Shamsul Huda stadium at Jessore yesterday(Wednesday).


By virtue of the day’s feat, the national airlines team smartly clinched the second national league title securing 52 points, eight points more than league runners-up Chittagong Division (44 points), the champions of the inaugural league.


After two consecutive defeats in the four-day and one day matches, hosts Khulna finished last in the four-team final round with 36 points behind Dhaka Metropolis, which collected 42 points.


At the home ground, coin-favoured Khulna team batted first to be booked at 181 for 7 in reduced 35 overs. Upcoming batsman Asadullah Khan Biplob scored 59 runs off 72 balls with three fours and two sixes.


Middle order Tushar Imran made 36 in 37 balls that featured seven boundaries while tail-ender Raju Parvez contributed not out 34 off 70 deliveries, including two fours.


Promising national pacer Mohammad Sharif and Anwar Hossain Monir captured two wickets each while Pakistani Amir Wasim and Jahangir Talukder Dulu took one wicket apiece.


In reply, Biman reached their target scoring 185 runs for seven wickets in 34.1 overs.


One down national cricketer Habibul Basher Sumon, who made a record 224 runs in the four-day match on Monday against the same opponent, again excelled with the willow contributing team highest 83 runs off 84 balls, including seven fours and a six, to be adjudged man of the match.


Wicket keeper Muktar Siddiqui, batting at number seven, scored useful 32 runs off 42 balls with one four and a six.


National pacer Manjurul Islam Manju and Ahmed Kamal Colonel grabbed two wickets each.
